Oak Knoll Vineyards
At our southern-most ranch we grow seventy acres of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot in relatively equal proportions. Proximity to the San Pablo Bay brings cooling fog and climatic moderation to this vineyard. The predominate soils type is silty clay loam which acts more like clay during the winter months, however changes to a silt that feels like walking on the moon during vineyard sampling at harvest. Both white grape varietals produce wines with tropical aromas and flavors, perfectly complimenting the Markham style. Newer high density plantings of our new Merlot clones have shown incredible potential fitting in the blends perfectly.
