Historically, this 120 acre parcel in the Yountville AVA was a blackberry ranch located in the middle of the valley floor. Deep, versatile soils allowed Markham Vineyards to plant an assortment of varietals to compliment both our portfolio and capitalize on the potential of the ranch. One-third of the vineyard is Sauvignon Blanc planted along the riparian corridor which helps repel pests and grows well in the deepest soils. Chardonnay budwood from our Oak Knoll ranch was replicated here in order to preserve our ‘Estate Vineyard’ designation. Our love for Yountville Merlot flavors made it an easy choice here as well. This ranch also allows the winemaking staff to play with our smaller "tasting room only" bottlings of Pinot Noir, where we have five acres planted to 5 individual clones. Look for the return of Muscat Cannelli as the young vines are in the ground and growing.
