Frenchman’s Blend

Oak Knoll District
Napa Valley
$23.20 CLUB

Do not be fooled by the alluring orange blossom, jasmine and apricot perfume, this wine finishes bone dry. The lemon vibrancy is ethereal but classically refreshing. A wonderful way to unwind after a long day, this wine is sure to take you away on vacation. Perhaps take-out shrimp Pad Thai or coconut red curry complete the fantasy.

Created as an experiment suggested by my assistant winemaker. This wine both honors our founder with our California version of a Rhone-style wine. The intensely floral Muscat adds exotic notes to this provocative wine making it an exciting wine to pair with spicy noodle bowls.

Harvest Notes

  • The 2018 vintage was textbook “normal”, but this vintage was preordained.
  • Grape vines set their crop in the record rainfall of Spring 2016, much like fruit trees.
  • Vines stored away nutrients to produce heavy yields in all varietals.
  • Care was taken to fine tune crop loads to maintain intensity in the fruit.
  • Veraison was three weeks behind schedule, followed by a cool summer.
  • After brief rains, Fall heat ushered in harvest.
