Tambor Vineyard lies at the southern end of Mt Veeder AVA, on a northerly facing slope. The flavorful fruit from its old hillside vines reflects Mt. Veeder’s flora, with pretty anise notes, wild violets, and brambly boysenberry.

This is the first and only vintage we will ever bottle from this vineyard, making it one of the most exclusive wines in Markham history. Once it’s gone, it’s gone for good!

The 2021 vintage will be remembered for low yields of intensely-aromatic, flavorful fruit, with a smooth and uneventful harvest season.
January and February saw rain, then almost no notable precipitation for flower, bloom and set.
Grapes ripened early and evenly during a summer with no heat spikes.

Mt Veeder AVA

Located on the southwest edge of Napa Valley in the Mayacamas Mountains, the climate is cool to moderate, with most vineyards above the fog line.
Cooler days and warmer nights than the valley floor; typical mid-summer high temperatures top out at about 85°F (30°C).
Shallow, generally well-drained soils with low fertility produce small quantities of intensely flavored fruit.
