Bruce Markham served in the Korean War, joining the Pacific Fleet of the US Navy in January 1952. Our connection to honoring our nation’s heroes started with Bruce’s own service and continues to be a valued pillar of our business. To this end, we make an annual donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation and Mentis Napa Valley, which assists both organizations in furthering their mission.

Established under the philanthropic direction of award-winning actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise, the Gary Sinise Foundation serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those. They’ve built 70 specially adapted smart homes for severely wounded heroes through their R.I.S.E. program. Their Serving Heroes initiative has provided over 490,000 meals to heroes nationwide and abroad. And through Snowball Express, they have delivered comfort and joy to more than 8,700 family members of fallen military heroes, reminding them they are not alone and their loved ones’ sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Honoring America’s Greatest Generation
Through Soaring Valor, they’ve carried on the stories of an entire generation by sending more than 1,100 World War II veterans and their guardians to tour The National WWII Museum, and have recorded hundreds of hours of interviews for the museum’s video archive.
Supporting The Most Essential Workers
Their First Responders Outreach program provides funding for essential equipment, emergency relief, and training to make our first responders life-saving work just a little easier. During the pandemic, they ramped up their support for our front-line defenders by delivering thousands of meals, donating nearly impossible to find PPE, and providing financial support to service members, veterans, first responders, healthcare professionals, and their families.
Who is Mentis Napa Valley?
Mentis was founded in 1948 just after World War II to help veteran families to readjust to civilian life. Over time the mental health needs of Napa County have changed and Mentis has changed alongside our community to continue to provide services ranging from prevention to treatment to avoid mental health challenges before they become insurmountable. As Napa’s oldest non-profit, residents can turn to a trusted expert to help them learn how to cope with life’s situations in a productive way, allowing them to feel and function at their best.
