This wine is sourced exclusively from our Rockerbox Vineyard at the foot of Mount Saint Helena. The vineyard is cradled in a natural canyon, and vines root deeply in the rocky, gravelly soils to produce Merlot with aromas of cranberries and black cherries, along with a palate lush with bright raspberry, light notes of vanilla, and a touch of cedar.

Typically 10° F warmer than more southerly districts of Napa Valley, the rocky soils found on our estate radiate heat during the growing season, packing each grape with intense flavor.

Calistoga AVA

  • At the northern edge of the valley, Calistoga is one of the warmest and driest of Napa’s sub-AVAs.
  • Bordered by mountains on three sides, soils are primarily volcanic.
  • Daytime temps of 100°F are moderated by tempering wind and fog that flow through the Chalk Hill gap, falling to low 40s at night.
