APPELLATION

Stags Leap AVA

  • A “valley within a valley” where coarse soils retain little water causing low vigor vines and intensely flavored fruit
  • Daily temperatures rise quickly, but in the afternoon the hills funnel cool marine air from the San Pablo Bay through the corridor.
  • Cooler nighttime temperatures give fruit excellent acid/sugar balance.
